Women For Change Run
As women we want to stand united to put an end to violence against women and children. Daily we hear news about attacks, women and children being violated in many ways: in their homes, on the streets and places of education. Even being outdoors in nature harbors a potential threat.
The Women For Change movement was founded by Catch Me If You Can.
Our first ‘Women For Change’ event took place in Tokai Forest, on the 15th March 2016, only few days after the brutal murders of Franziska Blöchliger (Tokai Forest) and Sinoxolo Mafevuka (Khayelitsha). The event was held with more than 3 500 people from all over Cape Town, who came together to pay tribute to each woman and child who have been senselessly killed in this country.
Women For Change 8km Run in Sandton City was our 2nd largest organized run to drive awareness on violence against women and children in South Africa. Our Women For Change 8km Run in Johannesburg was held on the 1st December 2018, during the 16 Days of Activism.
We are also planning to have an exclusive Women For Change 5km Run at Groot Constantia, Cape Town on 6th March 2019 to drive awareness during Intern. Women’s Month, before the first official race during 16 Days of Activism 2019.
