Nadia van der Merwe
Leader: Fish Hoek, Simon’s Town
I am a Food and Beverage Instructor, who basically live in restaurants and is often surrounded with really good food. For this reason I had to find effective way in managing my weight and started off by running short distances.
My motto has always been to ensure that my running sessions was fun and exciting in order for me to build a good relationship with running and today I can comfortably run a half marathon, with more aspirations. Even though I have had my fair share of running injuries, running has not only taught me how to look after my body, but it has also helped me to perform better physically and mentally. I have learned allot about self-discipline and having a strong and positive mind-set. My running schedule comprises of an average 7 hour training week that includes speed and endurance training with professional coaching on Thursday’s.
I would like to invite you to challenge yourself and join me for a run every now and again, to teach you that running can be fun and that you should never under estimate the power of your body. You never know what great achievements you can accomplish, if you only dare to believe in yourself.
