Leader: Hout Bay
The very first race I ever did, I was fooled into thinking it was a fun run around the Rock of Gibraltar. Already way further than I’d ever attempted, I was incredibly nervous but excited. But as i walked towards the starting line I noticed a small group of very professional runners and no “fun runners”.
Unsurprisingly, I came stone last, so last that the marshals packed up and left, leaving me to ask passer by’s which way the runners went! After making everyone wait over 10 minutes after the second last runner for me to finish, they gave me my medal and the second that went around my neck I just knew that this would not be the last of my races.
I am not a fast runner, by no means, but what I lack in speed I make up for in enthusiasm. Even though that first race was not a fun run, I try to make each run, from training to race days, as fun as possible. Join me in meeting new friends and having a laugh while getting some exercise in.
