This year’s Spar Women’s Challenge in Pretoria was located at Centurion SuperSport Park Stadium. On offer was a 5km and a 10km route. Along with some other keen CMIYC ladies I joined the 5km run on 5th of August.

As we arrived at the race, it was awesomely cloudy, the running gods where on our side considering the race startedat 2:00pm in the afternoon.

Pre-Race Preparations

As a Leader of the CMIYC Centurion group, I started training with my ladies as hard as we could. We were a strong group of 12 ladies to set our goal with the 5km route of the Spar Women’s Challenge in Pretoria. Most had never ran a kilometer in their lives and we had only 3 weeks to prepare and we did it #BetterTogether. It was a great opportunity for us ladies to reach our goal.

Spar Women’s Challenge Pretoria – So much fun!

Through these preparations I felt confident before the race. But I panicked just 15 minutes before the race start when some of my ladies where not pitching, thinking they chickened out. Luckily they still arrived in time and the fun began.

I have to say “Wow” the race was so well organised, everything was on point from the road marshals, ice cold water, awesome club gazebo setting at the stadium and the plenty of safe and secure parking space. I would definitely do this race again. As a result we can’t wait for the Johannesburg leg.

Better Together – A wonderful ladies race

The race is all about changing people’s lives and that is my mantra in life, to always make a difference in my community.

Overall we truly enjoyed chasing our goals at the Women’s Spar Challenge. And big bonus was the awesome super packed goodie bags full of things like breakfast and toiletries. A nice reward for a fun afternoon with my CMIYC girls.
